Types of Pools | Asiapools

There is nothing quite like the feeling of diving into a cool, crystal-clear pool on a hot summer’s day. Whether you’re looking to beat the heat, get some exercise, or relax and unwind, a pool is a perfect addition to any backyard. Not only do they add aesthetic appeal to your outdoor space, but they also add value to your property. But with so many different types of pools to choose from, it can be overwhelming to decide which one is right for you. In this article, we’ve compiled a list of the various types of pools available to help you make an informed decision.

Skimmer Pool

Skimmer pools are an excellent way to achieve a larger swimming area with a minimal footprint. Using a skimmer device and jets, the water surface is kept below the pool’s edge, eliminating the need for perimeter drainage. It allows large amounts of water to gather, maximizing the size of your pool without compromising aesthetics. The skimmer device also filters out debris, providing cleaner and clearer water and extending the life of your pool. Skimmer pools offer a modern, efficient, cost-effective solution for maximising pool sizes.

Overflow Pool

Overflow pools offer a traditional and classical pool design and a calming experience for swimmers. Whilst in skimmer pools the water level is kept below the pool’s edge, overflow pools are designed to keep the water level in line with the pool perimeter edge. Overflow pools are surrounded by an overflow drain covered with grating, which serves as the catchment area for any splashing of waves made by swimmers. Unlike skimmer pools where waves would bounce back against the pool wall creating water turbulence, the waves in overflow pools splash out to the drain, reducing the formation of waves and turbulence within the pool, keeping the surface of the water calm. With an overflow pool, you can be sure to enjoy the calming effect of a waveless swimming experience.

Infinity Pool

Infinity pools are popular as they offer an aesthetically pleasing pool design creating a breathtaking outdoor space. The water in infinity pools is designed to be more than the pool’s structure can hold, resulting in the top layer spilling over the edge into a catchment basin, which is then cleaned and filtered back into the pool. For swimmers, infinity pools offer captivating views as the water flows over the pool’s edge creating the effect of an endless body of water. With appropriate design and construction, an infinity pool can create a serene atmosphere perfect for relaxation or recreation.
